StripeCon | Brand Refresh

Branding for a tech conference held by SilverStripe.

StripeCon is "the conference dedicated to SilverStripe CMS/Framework.. Learn, share, and network with like-minded SilverStripers from all over the world."

Brief

During my internship working at SilverStripe I was tasked with refreshing the branding for StripeCon and creating a recognisable design system to go with it. The StripeCon branding is used across a wide range of event collateral including, booklets, website, lanyards, tshirts, programmes, banners etc. It was important for the branding to be instantly recognisable.

Stripecon 19 brand

StripeCon 19 continues to use the orange and pink colour palette and octagonal shaped logo from 2017. The added geometric shapes, 3D feel and an extended colour palette form the foundation of the StripeCon 19 design system.

Process

The starting point for this project was the StripeCon 17 branding. There was a logo and some event collateral. It was important for the new branding to feel like the next evolution of the StripeCon brand and not a re-brand. The key parts of the StripeCon 17 brand were the octagon shape and the pink and orange colours.

I worked through an iterative process, exploring different ways to extend the brand. I also collected a wide range of different examples of conference branding and design systems to learn and build from.
